Our Vision

Ziklag exists to cultivate responsibility, purpose, and confidence through meaningful work. Our residents will take part in the full rhythm of homestead life — raising animals, stewarding the land, and producing food that sustains both themselves and the community.

As they learn to care for living things and manage real‑world tasks from birth to harvest, they discover their own capacity to lead, contribute, and overcome challenges. This daily practice builds discipline, resilience, and the entrepreneurial mindset needed to thrive in the free enterprise system.

Through hands‑on training and shared responsibility, Ziklag empowers men and women to rebuild their lives, participate in local commerce, and step into a future defined not by their past, but by their growth, skill, and renewed sense of calling.

About the Name

Ziklag draws its name from the ancient town of Ziklag, where David found refuge while being pursued by King Saul—a place of safety, preparation, and transformation between the time of his anointing and his kingship. For our nonprofit, Ziklag serves as an interim space, a supportive environment for individuals addressing homelessness and addiction, enabling them to recover, acquire new skills, and prepare for their future opportunities.  Just as David’s time in Ziklag forged him into a leader, we believe our residents—through sober living, homesteading, and mentorship—will emerge as strong, self-sufficient individuals ready to lead lives of purpose.
